999 Fine Silver, specially minted to produce a Gem Mint Proof Coin The beauty is protected by a Capital Plastics hard plastic case in the original box (included). These commemorative coins for the Texas Sesquicentennial celebration are made of pure silver to make them a treasured heirloom from generation to generation. Only a limited number of these beautiful medallions were minted. None were produced after 1986.

The SILVER COIN of TEXAS is made of. 999 fine silver, specially minted to produce a Gem Mint Proof coin. Each Gem Mint Proof SILVER COIN of TEXAS has a magnificent, deep sculptured look reflecting the custom dies made by master craftsmen. The selected dies were wiped clean or polished every 15 or 20 impressions and were replaced frequently to avoid imperfections.

The blanks were specially polished and cleaned to assure high quality striking. They were then hand fed into the press one at a time, each blank receiving two blows from the dies to bring up sharp, high relief details. The operation was done at slow speed with extra pressure resulting in a frosted deep sculptured effect on a mirror-like background.
